A Crazy Week...

Hey Everyone,

This has been a very crazy week for me. On Monday we went to the Columbus Zoo with baby Alex, cousin Jen, and Great-Aunt Toni. I was still not feeling too good so I slept pretty much through the whole thing. Then we went to El Vaquero's for Cinco de Mayo and I slept there too. Ask Joey if you want to know what happened.

Then on Tuesday we got to play outside. I slept in my stroller while Joey played on the deck. When we came inside I puked up a bunch of bright yellow liquid. Mom called the doctor since I've been spitting up and not eating well since my congestion. He said that I should come in on Thursday if things didn't get better...and on Wednesday if I puked yellow again. I was so tired that I even fell asleep during Tummy Time on Tuesday night.

On Wednesday morning, sure enough, I puked up yellow liquid. Mom took me to see Dr. Sarrazine since my doctor doesn't work on Wednesdays. He said that it sounded like I have reflux and he wanted me to go get a "Barium Swallow Radiograph (x-ray)" to make sure that it was the problem, and not something worse. Normally they wouldn't do this right away, but I had lost half a pound since I was in on the first of May. Mom took me to the hospital and I had to lay on a table with a big machine above me while a nurse tried to make me drink Barium water from a bottle. The barium shows up on the x-ray and they can watch me drink and digest it. Mom said my guts looked pretty cute on the screen! Sure enough, and soon as I started drinking it they could see it coming back into my esophagus. The problem with reflux is that the muscle at the top of my tummy isn't closing back up all of the way and my stomach juice is coming out. (and sometimes out of my mouth!). They said that this is pretty common and should go away once I start sitting on my own and eating solid food. They gave me some medicine to neutralize my acid and hopefully make it less painful for me to eat. (I'm still only eating small amounts and usually I start crying when I get some down). I also have to go see a pediatric surgeon on Tuesday who is more knowledgeable in these types of x-rays. He may have a better medicine or advise for mommy and me. I used to eat so good and now it's just no fun!

On Thursday we went to Dayton to visit the Meyers for Brady's 2nd birthday. He had an Elmo party and there were lots of little boys there, and one girl! I got to meet baby Austin. I am 5 weeks older than him...My tummy wasn't feeling too good and so Joey got to have most of the fun. This week I had my first road trips and I did pretty good on both of them!

Tomorrow is Baptism. Hopefully I will feel ok, but I should since I usually do pretty good in the mornings. I'll post pictures from the day later on next week.
