Goodnight, Sleep Tight

Hi Guys!

Well, mom bought me one of the sleep sacks and I have been taking better naps and sleeping longer at night. Before I would rub my eyes and hit myself in the face with my arms during the night and wake myself up. Now Mom swaddles me up like a little baby burrito. Sometimes my arms are tucked inside and some times they are free. I usually don't like getting put into it, but once I fall asleep it's nice and cozy! Mom also had to put the bumper back on the front side of the crib. Twice now I've woken up in the middle of the night with my body against the rails and one arm sticking out! Once she fixes me I fall back asleep. Most nights I go to bed, just after Joey, around 7:30pm. I wake up around 5:30 and get to go in bed with mom until Joey gets up at 7!

It's a good thing that I've been getting a lot of sleep because I've been spending time in the fields with dad. It's straw season and we went to visit him the other day. It was dinner time when we got there, so mom sat on top of a straw bale to nurse me, and then I had a "to go" meal of sweet potatoes and rice while I was in my car seat on top of another bale! It was fun eating outside. After dinner we were all packed up to go and I started to cry. Mom gave me a paci and I started to hold it by myself! I don't like to use a paci very often, but they are good teethers!

Then the next day we went to another field and I got to have my first tractor ride! It was neat being up high, but after I ate my bottle I fell asleep for most of it. Oh well, it was so relaxing and warm in the cab.

I'm getting into a very grabby stage, so beware! Mom keeps my nails cut short, but I tend to pinch onto whatever I can get my hands on. Usually it is mom's cheeks or neck. Sometimes I get hair, and she doesn't like that either! I am also still working on rolling over. I got frustrated today when mom was getting Joey ready for lunch. I started to fuss and I got way over on my side. I did this several times and even got my legs all of the way flipped over. I get stuck on my arm so I don't quite make it over yet. Mom tried to show me how to get my arm out of the way, so I'll just keep practicing.

I had a fun time with my tummy time too. I'm getting better and better at pushing up with my arms. Joey keeps talking about crawling, but I don't think I'm ready for that yet!

Yesterday I turned 20 weeks and I have successfully finished eating applesauce and sweet potatoes. Tomorrow I get to try squash or carrots. Which should I pick? I'm still trying food in the mornings at evenings, but sometimes I don't eat very much. Mom just tells me that I should at least try to get some in. She's still doing all sorts of crazy things to get me to open my mouth!!

It's Me Again...

Hey Everyone,

I've been having a pretty good week. We were really busy and made a few trips to Fort Wayne this past week, but it has been nice being at home. I've been on the floor a lot working on rolling over. I still can't make it all of the way, but I get up on my side regularly. The other day I was in my crib and I pulled myself over with the crib rails. Mom said it was a good try, but it was cheating...(whatever!)

Speaking of the crib...Dr. Barb had to open his big mouth and tell mom that I am old enough to sleep through the night, and she should start letting me fuss and cry until I fall asleep. I guess if I put myself to sleep I can get back to sleep if I wake up during the night. Mom and I have been working on this. Sometimes she gives in and nurses me until I'm (almost) asleep. She has also been wrapping up my body and legs in a blanket. We don't have any of the sleep sacks for my big size, but this technique makes me more cozy and secure. Last night I even slept from 8:30 to 7 am!!

I've also been trying applesauce/rice mixtures this past week. I eat a serving in the morning and one for dinner. Sometimes I don't eat very much and sometimes I eat a tablespoon or two. Mom usually has to do all sorts of goofy things to get me to open my mouth. I don't really do very good at opening it for the spoon yet. Today I got to try some sweet potatoes. Those were really good too.

Here is a picture of my chub...

I think that is about all of my "development" news for now.

Today I got to meet my great grandpa from Florida. He held me for a while and then I took a nap in my car seat while we drove him to see the farm. It was fun meeting him for the first time.

Tomorrow is Papa's birthday so we're heading to Fort Wayne again!!! I'm getting tired of the car trips, but I usually sleep anyway. It's all worth the extra attention though!

A True Chunky Monkey...

I saw Dr. Barb today and weighed in at 18 lbs 2 oz (95%+) and measured 27" long (95%+)!! I guess mom has a piggy to take care of now too! At 4 months Joey was just under 15 lbs and at 5 months he was 18 lbs 1 oz. I am a little bit bigger than he was at this point. The doctor also said that I can continue with rice cereal and start adding my "first foods" at any time. He told mom that I should be able to sleep through the night now, judging by my size. He said that I shouldn't really need mid-night feedings any more!!! We'll see about that!

Like I said before, I'm into the 12 month clothes and most of Joey's 12 month things were winter items. Mom did find a few things that I could maybe wear, and some 18 month shorts that don't look all that big. I even have a few new college hoodies and hot rod t-shirts that I should be in right now. Mom said she'd wash the stuff and we can try it on as we go!

That's about all for now. It's time for my cereal and then off to bed!

Hey everyone,

It has been a really crazy week. First of all, the cousins from Texas were here for the week before Sarah and Greg's wedding. The girls played with Joey for most of the time, but sometimes they would come visit with me for a few minutes. The three of them were loud and I didn't get my normal naps in during the day. That was ok, but it made for a long week. Then on Saturday we went to the wedding. Joey was all dressed up, but I got the usual "baby" attention. Here is a picture of me with Marla before the wedding. I slept for most of the reception though. Grandma and Papa were there and Grandma held me for most of the night. Mom and dad got a little break from Joey and I so that they could have a good time too.
We also got a fence in our back yard. I'm not old enough to enjoy the fence yet, but I do enjoy Joey being outside more! I get a chance to be on the floor with my toys and work on rolling over. I've been turning up on to my side but haven't gone all the way yet. Maybe soon! I have still been chewing on a lot of toys and my fingers, and drooling all over. No sign of teeth yet though! I've also been continuing with my rice cereal in the evenings. I haven't had it every night because sometimes I'm not in the mood. Last night I ate a few tablespoons, but it didn't really help me sleep longer...
I'm officially in 12 month clothes now! Mom weighed me today and I'm right on 18 lbs. Tomorrow we go to see Dr. Barb. We'll see what his scale says! I think that I have to get shots too. They aren't any fun, but the nurse always does a good job at making them quick! I'll let you know how everything goes!
Love,

I'm 4 Months Old, Can You Believe It!?

Happy 4th of July!!
On Friday I got to go to go to my first 4th of July fireworks show. Here is a picture of Joey and I getting ready to go...
Then when dad came home we all piled in the van and drove to Smiley Park. I slept on the way there and during the stroller ride through the park.
Once the fireworks started I woke up, but wasn't scared. I sat on mom's lap and next to Joey while they lit up the sky. I was wide eyed the whole time. I thought they were very pretty. I never cried and mom said that I was brave. It sounded like Joey was having fun too. He was screaming and ooh-ing over every one!
In other news...
I am 17 weeks old now and doing great. Mom weighed me the other day and I was 17 lbs 4 oz. We'll see what I weigh at the doctor next week. Today mom let me try my first rice cereal! (I turn 4 mo. tomorrow!!!) Here are a couple of pictures. I actually ate a couple spoons of it without pushing much out with my tongue. I didn't really think it was all that tasty though. Maybe I can get some oatmeal some time soon!

Also, if you haven't seen me lately, I am losing my hair!! Here are a couple of shots of the back and sides. (No, mom didn't shave me!)

I am also standing up in my exer-saucer and walker now. Here is a shot of me in the basement. I really like them, but Joey tends to either push me around or try to get in the seat with me. It's kind of annoying, but I guess that's just what I'm going to have to deal with!

I'm really drooling and chewing on everything in sight now too. Maybe teeth are coming in, but I hear that they hurt! I take my duck toy and new teethers everywhere I go. The teether is nice because it is cold, but it's a little thick to fit good in my mouth!

This past week we went to the Fort Wayne Zoo again. Toni, Phil, and Alex came with us. Everyone said that I was VERY good. I was passed around a lot, but it was so nice being out of my stroller. I was in it for a while, and here is a cute shot of me...Joey and I have also been making weekly trips to the library for the summer reading program. We bring home huge stacks of books for mom to read to us. Joey even likes reading to me sometimes...

This week dad's Uncle and cousins from Texas are staying with us. Aunt Sarah's wedding is on Saturday. Mom told me that Kelly and Randi, 8 and 6, should be able to occupy Joey and that means that maybe I'll get some extra naps and play time in!!! I don't know what all is going to go on this week, but I have a feeling that we are going to be pretty busy! Tomorrow I also have my 4 month pictures and we're dropping Grandma S. off for a pre-wedding makeover while we are at my photo shoot!! Stay tuned for an update on how those go!

I think that is about all for now. I'm heading to bed...the cousins should be getting here any time!

(Oh, I forgot to say that my new favorite spot is up on top of the washing machine during the spin cycle! Mom sat me up there today and my leg fat and cheek fat was jiggling all over! Then I stood up and the earthquake made me laugh. She said that if I'm good she'll let me sit up there again some time!)
